We are looking for a motivated, talented individual interested in a role with significant growth opportunity to join our organization as a Global Civil/Structural Project Engineer at our World Headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.
This position is responsible for providing civil/structural technical support as a lead engineer on the most complex and significant projects encompassing project planning, development, implementation, and modification of glass container facilities, using considerable engineering knowledge and expertise. Position researches and applies new technologies in corporate and global applications and provides strong technical leadership on corporate programs and initiatives. Responsibilities include lead design engineering on civil/structural projects, independent design decision making and mentoring of other discipline engineers. Must exhibit strong communication skills with the ability to present highly complex project information in a professional manner to a wide variety of audiences, both internally and externally.

Broad and comprehensive knowledge of civil/structural engineering fundamentals and design principles including an extensive knowledge of design and drawing checking procedures.
Maintains a detailed understanding of current applicable engineering codes and leverages that extensive knowledge to provide safe and economical designs, while also accounting for special requirements and situations related to the glass making process.
Provides as well as directs detailed and complete analysis and calculations, general arrangement and detail drawings, specifications and complete bid packages for the civil/structural portion of projects at O-I glass container facilities. Overseeing third party contractors on NA and International contracts.
Provides as well as directs civil/structural input on scoping, cost estimates, design and construction package generation for O-I glass container projects. Structural responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, building modifications, equipment supports and binding steel for glass melting furnaces, as well as all other primary and ancillary structural items within O-I glass container facilities. Civil responsibilities may include but are not limited to, site development and security, roadways, railroad lines and site drainage related items.
Broad and comprehensive knowledge of the financial impact of design choices on project budgets.
Provides new approaches to solving complex problems and identifying innovative opportunities by using sound judgment and civil/structural related experience.
Provides significant guidance and input to the regional Civil/Structural resource teams as well as within the corporate civil/structural group.
Provides leadership to teams of other engineers and designers, as required.

Makes criticalcontributions to managing and solving highly complex technical challenges as part of the project teams.
Projects will have a large financial impact on the business.
Contributes to engineering and standards development, while balancing the needs of internal, external and corporate customers.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology, Inc.)institution, minimum requirement.
Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering, preferred.
7+ years related work experience in civil/structural engineering with an emphasis on structural steel engineering with the proven ability to solve complex engineering problems related to existing or new designs and systems.
Professional Engineering license or equivalent preferred (North America only).
Strong working knowledge of the following structural software packages is preferred: RISA 3D/Foundations, TEDDS, MathCAD and SteelIt.
General working knowledge of the following systems is preferred: AutoCAD, MicroStation, ProjectWise and Microsoft Office.
There will be some travel time required for training and project work, typically not to exceed 30%.
