Position Description:

We are currently seeking an experienced Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at our manufacturing facility located in Toano, VA.


  1. Works from complex blue prints, wiring diagrams, shop hand books, layouts and other specifications (written or verbal) to determine materials and working procedures needed in the maintenance of plant machinery, equipment and structures.

  2. Installs, maintains, repairs, dismantles, overhauls reassembles, adjusts and tests various types of plant machinery, equipment structures and electrical or electronic equipment and component parts.

  3. Plans and performs work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical or electronic principles, wiring specification codes, properties of various materials, principles of operation and application of electrical or electronic equipment such as motors, switches, control boards, generators, circuit breakers, electronic inspection units, etc.

  4. Welds, brazes, scrapes, solders, cuts, etc. various types of metals necessary for maintenance repairs and fabrication of new components and equipment.

  5. Performs a variety of trade functions such as a plumber, mason, carpenter and sheet metal worker, etc. in performance of duties which require the necessary skills and working ability.

  6. Constructs rigging and scaffolding; moves heavy machinery and equipment; lubricates greases, oils, etc., plant machinery and equipment.

  7. Maintain electrical and electronic systems (i.e. motors, motor drives, switch gear, starters, install wiring, robotics, etc.)

  8. Maintain all mechanical systems (i.e. elevators, conveyors, lehrs, gearboxes, fans, blowers, etc.)

  9. Maintain equipment related to piping systems (i.e. pumps, compressors, sprinkler systems, plumbing, etc.)

  10. Maintain equipment related to instrumentation (i.e. forehearth glass temperature controls, lehr instrumentation, furnace glass levels, etc.)

  11. Maintain and set-up all cold end and hot end surface treatment equipment.(Mechanically and Electrically)

  12. Maintain and set-up all cold end selecting, Carton assembly, palletizing and load building equipment. (Mechanically and Electrically)

  13. Perform minor hot repair work on furnaces and fore hearths.

  14. Must use all safety equipment necessary to preform duties assigned in a safe manner.

  15. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:


  • Individuals must possess a current Electricians Journeymans card and have completed an approved apprenticeship through the Department of Labor & Industry.

  • 3-5 years experience in a manufacturing facility.

  • High School graduate or GED.

  • Must be able to lift 40 lbs. on a regular basis.

  • Must be able to work a rotating schedule, with weekend and holiday availability.

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

Must be authorized to workin the U.S. on a full-time basis.
