We are currently seeking a Reliability Engineer - Electrical, to join our team at our Auburn, NY facility.
This position manages capital and expense projects, including Project Spend Request (PSR) preparation, project management and implementation and is responsible for compliance with appropriate statutory requirements. Designs and implements reliability improvement and total system cost projects.
A particular emphasis of this role is to lead the development and implementation of a reliability strategy that enhances production capability. Closes the gaps found in the Manufacturing Fundamental audits which may require creation of SOP’s, PM’s, and training of employees.
Continually promote and lead a safety culture through facilitation and involvement in line initiatives. These include, but are not limited to, operating procedures, hazard identification/risk assessment, and accident investigation.
Maximize line reliability by actively engaging Unit Plant Managers (UPM) through the Unit Plant representatives (UPR) to drive maintenance improvements and the Plant Preventative Maintenance and Predictive Maintenance Programs.
Ensure timely completion of capital/expensed improvement projects.
Assist with Total Systems Cost (TSC) project development, determine cost justification and implement improvement ideas.
Ensure the effective utilization of Electrical and Mechanical resources to meet plant requirements to eliminate unplanned down time and ensuring that costs are maintained within plan levels by using internal or external resources available.
Act as the project manager for assigned projects. Manage outside contractor resources as projects require.
Assist with the implementation of Manufacturing Fundamentals. Ensure the facility is in compliance with non-negotiables and develop a plan to close audit gaps.
Prepare Project Spend Request (PSR’s) in consultation with the end users, OI Technical Services and external resources as required. Submit OSR’s supporting the Plant’s Capital Plan as required. Update as built drawings and assist with fixed asset validation as part of project closeouts.
Ensure risk assessments on all new equipment or altered work methods are carried out with relevant plant stakeholders.
Work closely with the manufacturing team to ensure plant KPI’s are met.
Ensuring the development of a continuous improvement culture by identification, development and implementation of improvements by utilizing Root Cause Analysis and other Continuous Improvement tools.
Support successful operation of reliability strategies.
Management of capital improvement projects.
Resolution of personnel/motivation issues.
Control of capital project budget.
SCOPE AND IMPACT
This position is responsible for managing the implementation of capital and improvement projects. Develop into the Subject Matter Expert for electrical, servo control and robotic systems and assist with uptime improvement initiatives.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or a technical/trade electrical controls certificate with significant engineering project management experience in a manufacturing Plant.
1 – 3 years in a project engineering background.
Particular emphasis on project management or maintenance with resource planning skills in developing a reliability strategy.
Excellent resource and reliability planning abilities.
Achievement in delegating and holding people accountable/responsible.
Excellent facilitation skills.
Significant achievement in collaboratively developing teams in a manufacturing environment.
This position reports to the Unit Plant Manager.
There may be some travel associated with this position for training and/or project work.
