We are currently seeking an Advance Forming Engineering Manager to join our team at our World Headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.

Scope:

Squad Goal

  • The forming squad will focus on investigating new and inventive ways of forming glass containers that meet the near- and long-term objectives for the new manufacturing process line

Working in and promoting an environment that operates on the following principles:

Key Accountabilities:

  • Work with their squad and with the Manufacturing Technology Leader to develop the squad’s technology development plans and associated cost/resourcing plan to achieve core milestones.

  • Define the roles & responsibilities required to successfully achieve the technical goals.

  • Oversee and coordinate the efforts of various science and engineering staff on multiple tasks of varying horizons/generations within the squad’s strategic purview.

  • Ensure coordination and alignment between individual SME and strategic partner/vendor activities.

  • Ensure technical objectives are met and any roadblocks or issues are quickly resolved.

  • Foster a team environment of strong communication, collaboration, and a willingness to challenge the status quo.

  • Ensure communication and alignment of decisions and activities with other technical squads.

  • Participate in the development process and in obtaining and working with both internal & external resources (Contractors, Suppliers, Strategic Partners, etc.)

  • Evaluate and initiate intellectual property protection on appropriate areas of technology

Roles reporting to the Squad Lead:

  • This role will lead between 10-15 employees or strategic partners, suppliers or contractors within the specified discipline/focus area:

  • Technical Employees within the Squad; engineers and scientists of varying disciplines.

  • Vendors – Specific resources or a complete agreement with the partner.

  • Contractors – Specific resources or a complete agreement with the partner.

  • Strategic Partners – Specific resources or a complete agreement with the partner

Position Requirements:

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE

Indicate educational requirements, certifications, and technical proficiency needed for the role.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field

EXPERIENCE

Indicate experience necessary for success in the role

  • 7+ years in forming, manufacturing or engineering role, technical background in glass manufacturing and plant processes is essential

  • Strong decision making and judgment skills

  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to lead by influence

  • Flexibility to interact with all levels of management from both external and internal to O-I

  • Team Orientated Individual– must have excellent people skills

  • Strong communication skills
