We are currently seeking a Production Planner to join our team at our World Headquarters in Perrysburg, OH.


The Production Planner position has responsibilities for meeting their assigned business unit demand at acceptable customer service levels and best total cost. This includes meeting working capital targets for their assigned category and working with other business unit production planners to ensure that all business units meet service, cost and inventory goals. The planner is expected to take a leadership role in resolving business unit production and inventory issues, work cross-functionally to make critical decisions based on the best information at hand, and take a leadership role in building consensus among several parties to resolve problems. Responsibilities range from planning production, ensuring schedule data integrity and managing inventory levels to meet customer service levels and working capital targets.

  • Manage the supply chain to meet the business unit operating plan balancing service needs and costs.

  • Develop a production plan in SAP by line by plant to meet forecasted and actual demand requirements.

  • Maintain schedule based on new production/customer information and manufacturing status.

  • Under general direction, ensure the production schedules are current and sequenced for maximum productivity and to fulfill customer delivery requirements.

  • Works with management to organize schedule changes due to backlogs, design changes and material/labor shortages.

  • Partner with demand planning, customer service and plant materials managers to resolve issues and build consensus on supply strategy.

  • Communicate issues to Business Management, Manufacturing, Sales, Customer Service and Engineering.

  • Take a leadership role in S&OP and IBP meetings that are designed to balance demand and supply and manage issues within the category.

  • Balance capacity with demand on a short term and long term basis by partnering with the central capacity planning function.

  • Manage inventory investment throughout the chain to optimize working capital investment.

  • Analyze data to create information on safety stock levels, EOQ’s and forecasting requirements.

  • Provide data to support business unit projects.

  • Work closely with manufacturing plants and the business unit team to improve flexibility and responsiveness to markets.

  • Serves as a back-up for other planners during periods of absence.

  • Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.


The production planner has a direct impact on a $250MM regional working capital budget, plant operating expenses and customer service levels. Schedules are highly visible and reviewed regularly by nearly every function in the company including Demand Planning, Sales, Manufacturing, Finance, HR and others. Planners must be data driven, have business case and analytical capabilities, and have strong organization and conflict management skills.


This position reports to the Supply Planning Manager.

Position Requirements:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Engineering or related-area required. Supply Chain degree preferred.

  • Three years of scheduling or supply chain planning experience in SAP.

  • Technical knowledge of Supply Chain, Purchasing, Materials, Manufacturing, and/or related functions.

  • This position requires strong computer and analytical skills combined with the ability to manage large amounts of quantitative data.

  • Must be proficient in the use Microsoft Office software and have working knowledge of relational databases.

  • Experience with SAP- APO preferred

  • Individuals in this position must have the ability to actively listen to customer and plant issues, efficiently troubleshoot problems and implement solutions in a timely and customer focused manner.

  • Demonstrated analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Proficient organization, conflict management, and adapable in a rapidly chaining environment is a must.

  • APICS certification including CIRM, CPIM, CFPIM, or the CSCP is preferred but not required.


There may be some travel associated with this position for training, project work, and plant visits. Travel will be 10% or less.
