We are currently seeking a Mold Shop Journeyman to join our team at our plant in Winston-Salem, NC.

PRIMARY FUNCTION

Performs a highly skilled class of either machine tool work, welding or brazing, and bench work – required in

making repairs and alterations to molds, blanks, bottom plates or finish equipment. In accordance with plant requirements, duties of this job may also include machine tool or bench work on new mold equipment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lays out /machines/fits/assembles/and finishes metal parts to make and repair molds for Press & Blow, Blow & Blow Glass Containers.

  • Studies blueprints of and computes specifications, applying knowledge of shop mathematics and glass molding processes and machinery.

  • Sets up and operates machines, such as Horizontal Boring Mill, Manual Vertical Mill, Welders, Manual Lathes, CNC, Lathes, Milling Machine.

  • Use hand tools to assemble mold.

  • Verifies dimensions, using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and dial indicators.

  • Rebores cavities for capacity.

  • Makes specification changes involving forming of heads, shoulder contours, bands, etc.

  • Mills welds.

  • Makes changes in design or capacity.

  • Repairs jigs and fixtures.

  • May serve as crew leader of a small group of repairmen or have charge of a small division of the shop devoted to general machine tool or hand tool repair work, or any combination of the same.

  • Performs any other miscellaneous duties assigned.

Position Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be a Journeyman Mold Maker

  • Must have machine lathe and mill experience

  • Must have experience reading blueprints and drawings

  • Must have the ability to use all precision measuring device

  • Must have experience with bench repair and welding

  • Automatic CNC mill and lathe knowledge is desirable. CNC certification and/or CNC experience is desirable.

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent.

  • Prefer a minimum of five(5) years work experience in an industrial environment.

  • Able to work well with others and from verbal instructions under minimal supervision.
