We are currently seeking a Forming Operator to join our team at our plant in Streator, IL.

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

To operate a bottle forming machine

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:

Bottle forming machine, bottle tongs, hand tools, swabs, conveyors, ware gauges, computer terminal, etc.

MATERIALS:

Molten glass, molds, oil, dope, gloves, compressed air, etc.

SUPERVISED BY:

Production Shift Supervisor

TYPICAL JOB DUTIES:

  1. Follows all department and plant SOPs and policies.

  2. Defect analysis (gauging and visual) and necessary adjustments to machine, feeder, stacker, etc. to improve and maintain top quality.

  3. To change or assist in changing blanks, molds, finish mold changes and record reason.

  4. Body and finish mold changes.

  5. Job change assistance.

  6. Breakdown repair assistance.

  7. Reporting to Crew-leaders and Supervision any bad glass, bad machine conditions, or defective machine parts which cannot be corrected.

  8. Adjusting temperatures of mold equipment to feeder.

  9. Necessary doping and swabbing of mold equipment.

  10. May be assigned responsibility for additional equipment, up to and including, the point at which the bottles enter the lehr.

  11. Keeps work area, tools and equipment clean and orderly.

  12. Gauge weight and selected physical dimensions on complete set out and/or random sample and record using computer terminal.

  13. Re-qualify all cavities following any major downtime.

  14. Maintain any records or reports as directed.

  15. All other duties as assigned.

Requirements :

  • Must have a Forming Operator Card

  • Must be able to work a rotating schedule, with weekend and holiday requirements.

  • Must be able to work safely in a hot, dirty and loud environment.

  • Must have a minimum high school or GED.

  • Must be committed to meeting quality standards, comply with SOP’s, and willing to learn SPC.

*Signing Bonuses: $5,000 sign-on bonus plus an additional $5,000 if relocating from more than 50 miles away. Requires the signing of an agreement to reimburse the lump-sum cash sign-on bonus should you voluntarily leave O-I within two years of hire. Must meet all job requirements to be eligible.
